Why It's Important to Start The Year with Better Health Goals

The start of the new year brings us all a sense of refresh and opportunity to do better in all facets of our lives. There's really no better time to focus and make plans for a better health.

Research shows that building healthy habits starts with planning with goals in mind. People who set goals are more likely to achieve them than those who do not. Here are a few tips from our team of therapists:

If you have lingering pain, give us a call. We will gladly do an evaluation and come up with a health focused treatment plan to alleviate your pain
Avoid all or None thinking. Take one step at a time to improving your health and reaching your goals.
Be patient. Rehab or physical therapy is a process of small but important improvements.
Keep positive thoughts and reward yourself. As you're hitting your milestones allow yourself to appreciate your hard work and efforts.
Consistency. Don't be discouraged if you've skipped a day or two. Simply pick back up where you left off. The sooner you get back to your new found treatment plan the better.

Important COVID-19 and Physical Therapy Information

At Mercy Outpatient Rehab Clinic, there is nothing more important to us than your health and wellbeing. The coronavirus (COVID-19) is a rapidly evolving situation and we are working diligently to keep patients, staff, referral partners, and our community updated on our policies and prevention preparedness.

We’re following guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), state, and local health officials to ensure our rehab facilities and clinical teams are taking the proper actions to keep everyone safe and healthy. We hope that this information, will help you make a clear decision to continue your care plan with us during this time. The following protocols are in place:

• Patient screening: All patients will be screened upon arrival of their appointment time to make sure they’re not exhibiting symptoms. If a patient is presenting with COVID-19 symptoms, they will be advised to return home and contact their primary physician.

• Staff screening: All employees will be screened for COVID-19 daily. Those presenting any level of symptoms will return home and follow up with their physician before returning to work.

• Health hygiene protocols: Ongoing reinforcement to all staff regarding hand washing and other preventative measures for equipment and supplies are in place and being reinforced.

As a trusted and leading health care provider in North Miami Beach and Broward County, it’s our goal to ensure everyone’s safety. You can continue receiving care at one of our two locations with the confidence that we have taken every precaution necessary regarding your health and safety.

For patients visiting our clinics, we ask that you please limit the number of people who accompany you to your appointments, unless they are necessary for transportation or assistance. If you’re not feeling well, please call your primary doctor and also contact our office and we will be happy to re-schedule your appointment.

Tips to help prevent the virus:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

• Stay home when you are sick.

• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and throw the tissue in the trash.

• Clean/disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
